Kolache Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ cup milk warmed
- ¼ cup butter melted
- 1 egg beaten
- ½ teaspoon salt
In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
Add melted butter, beaten egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour and mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and wrap it around a sausage, sealing the edges.
Place kolaches on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for another 20 minutes.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
