Ingredients 

Kolache Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk warmed
  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • 1 egg beaten
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Filling

  • 8 sausages pre-cooked

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, beaten egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and wrap it around a sausage, sealing the edges.
  5. Place kolaches on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for another 20 minutes.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
