Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 8 slices Rye Bread
  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese
  • 1 large Onion sliced
  • 2 tablespoon Butter

Special Sauce

  • ¼ cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoon Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients for the special sauce. Set aside.
  2. 2. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add butter and sliced onions. Cook until onions are caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. 3. Form ground beef into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper. In the same skillet, cook patties until desired doneness, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  4. 4. Assemble the patty melts: Spread special sauce on each slice of bread. Place a patty on 4 slices of bread, top with caramelized onions and a slice of Swiss cheese. Top with remaining bread slices.
  5. 5. In the skillet, cook the assembled sandwiches until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
