Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Dried split peas
  • 1 Ham bone
  • 1 cup Chopped ham
  • 1 cup Chopped onion
  • 1 cup Chopped celery
  • 1 cup Chopped carrots
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 8 cups Chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper to taste

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse the split peas under cold water.
  2. 2. In a large pot, combine all ingredients.
  3. 3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. 4. Remove ham bone, chop any meat left on the bone, and return meat to the pot.
  5. 5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
