Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups dried black beans soaked overnight
  • 1 lb pork shoulder cut into chunks
  • 1 lb smoked sausage sliced
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper to taste

Instructions 

  1. 1. Drain and rinse the soaked black beans.
  2. 2. In a large pot, cook the pork shoulder over medium heat until browned.
  3. 3. Add the smoked sausage, onion, and garlic to the pot. Cook until the onion is translucent.
  4. 4. Add the black beans, beef broth, water, and bay leaves. Bring to a boil.
  5. 5. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 2 hours, or until the beans are tender.
  6. 6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve hot with rice and orange slices.
